I would like to express our sincere thanks to all concerned
for the support and cooperation extended to us for the Global
Business Opportunities Convention 1998 (G-BOC98) that was successfully
held with the attendance of about 600 leaders representing overseas
businesses, economic organizations and governments from 29 economies,
as well as 20,000 representatives of 2,500 Japanese companies.
While the G-BOC98 was conducted, as the thirteenth staging of
this event, under unprecedentedly severe situations in the midst
of the Asian economic crisis and prolonged domestic depression,
participants showed great interest in the programs, as exemplified
by the Individual Business Talks, already widely known for its
efficiency and effectiveness and now with further improvements,
where 4,400 cases of business talks were actively taken up. Keen
interest manifested by Japanese companies in the talks in the
areas of health, nursing-care, horticulture and education attracted
attention as evidence of the new business trends in Japan.
Special efforts were made for promotion of foreign direct investments
through the International Investment Promotion Plaza, as well
as for providing the latest business information on more than
50 countries through the National and Regional Promotion Seminars
and the concurrently held JETRO Overseas Investment Promotion
Fair.
In this era of economic globalization and mega-competition, we
would like to keep up our endeavors for future G-BOC programs
to meet various needs in step with the times, to participants
satisfaction, as increasing importance is attached to opening
up new overseas markets, international outsourcing (such as of
parts and components) and technology tie-ups.
We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you to G-BOC99 that
will take place in Osaka on the three days of 18-19-20 October
1999.
