Message As we present this Report on G-BOC99 (Global Business Opportunities Convention 1999), I would like to express our sincere thanks to the participants and all others concerned for your contribution to the great success of the G-BOC99, attended by 575 business and government leaders from 31 overseas economies, and also about 16,200 representatives of 2,500 Japanese companies. Amid adverse economic environment because of the prolonged business depression in Japan, the 14th staging of G-BOC was organized with all the more focussed endeavor particularly for prearrangements of the 'Individual Business Talks' with greater effects, through the use of the Internet in providing details of business needs with pictures posted on the G-BOC website, as well as in receiving applications for the business talks and other programs, bringing forth enhanced substance of this core program including 3,673 cases of business talks actively taken up, 385 of which either resulted in business contracts concluded or are expected to be concluded. At the 'National and Regional Promotion Seminars' program and the '7th JETRO Overseas Investment Promotion Fair' held concurrently with G-BOC99, the latest business information was presented from 60 countries around the world. Keen attention was paid to the 'Global Excellent Products Fair' also held together featuring excellent products and technologies with the top or leading shares in respective industries or trades. As the organizers of G-BOC, we will keep up our efforts to offer useful forums for international business talks, appropriately set up in step with the times and new needs, to contribute to promotion of corporate globalization. In particular, through further utilization of the Internet, we will do our utmost to meet various business needs to the satisfaction of all participants. We look forward to welcoming you to G-BOC2000 that will take place in Osaka on the three days of 16-17-18 October 2000.
